Steven Slater And His Fifteen Minutes

Steven Slater, the JetBlue flight attendant who took his job and shoved it the other day, is having his fifteen minutes of fame.  I just love it. I really do.   He is everybody's darling for doing what we all want to do these days on the cattle cars that pass as airplanes....... and I'm not even going to go into how many times over the years I have wanted to trash a job by pulling a dramatic exit from the office. Two brewskis and a trip down the emergency slide?  I start to laugh every time I think of it.

We've all had nightmare jobs and bosses.  He did what we have all wanted to do at one time or another, Right on, dude!!!.  Even though there is bound to be lots of clucking from Cable news pundits about lack of standards and how much better behaved people used to be etc., I don't know anybody who didn't identify with him. His Facebook page has had 97,468 likes as of today.  If he handles this right, he isn't going to have to worry about unemployment insurance. I see a reality show in his future. No wonder he was smiling on his way to jail.  Hope he doesn't blow it.

Soon walking off the job will become " pulling a Steven Slater"  You mark my words.  There will be Steven Slater action figures and games and clothes.  There's already a Steven Slater Tee shirt.  Want one?  I do

As I understand it, getting whacked on the head with a passenger's bag from the overhead was the straw that broke the camel's back. IF he doesn't go to jail, I'm guessing he'll make more from the publicity than any amount he might've received from a Work Comp injury claim.

Personally, my favorite "shove this job" would be the waitress whacking the customer with the steak. Anybody know her name? (-:
