Swine Flu The Musical

Here it is folks, a little something to lighten your mood and clear the air. Are you getting tired of the media hype about Swine Flu? I am, and a little suspicious too. Not to trivialize things, but 36,000 people die every year from regular flu and I know 100 people are dead in Mexico and the thing is spreading but CNN and Fox are carrying on like it's the Black Death.

Let's chill out and take things as they come. Remember the bird flu a couple of years ago? Remember that blizzard last winter that turned out to only be a dusting of snow? It could happen again and I fervently hope it does.

Without further ado, I present to you. Swine Flu The Musical

Money and Happiness

It's an age old question. Money can't buy happiness, but then again lack of money can guarantee misery. How much do we need? How much of what we make should we keep and how much should we donate to the common good? In a world where CEO's walk off with twenty-five million dollar bonuses while children go to bed hungry at the other end of town, there are no easy answers.

Just what is " the good life" anyway? I came across a video that gives a rather wise answer about life's choices.

Watch it. You'll like it. I promise:-)

A Quadruple By-Pass at the Heart Attack Grill

There's no salad bar at the Heart Attack Grill in Tempe, Arizona, but you can chow down on a single, double, triple or even a quadruple by-pass burger and a plateful of flatliner fries( fried proudly in pure lard.)

Wash it down with a beer or a margarita ( burp) and forget about getting a diet coke. There is no diet anything here. Their motto is "taste worth dying for". Need I say more?

If you can't make it to your car after dinner, a sexy nurse in scanty scrubs will wheel you to the parking lot in a wheelchair. Eat your heart out, Hooters( no pun intended)

I guess it's all in good fun and I'm sure the owners are laughing all the way to the bank, but it made me stop and think. Is this what the American dream comes down to? We Americans are the fattest people in the world and 47 million of us can't afford health insurance, but we can manage to gorge ourselves on beef and play hospital like it's all a big joke. What are we thinking? Isn't this kind of thing just too pre-global-financial meltdown for words?

Watch the video and you'll see what I mean. It's cute, but it made me want to go down to the crunchy granola cafe for a plate of bean sprouts and then spend twenty minutes on the treadmill.

The Dark Side of Twitter

Yes there is a dark side to Twitter and here it is.

No. I'm not addicted. I can quit anytime I want to. I couldn't possibly be addicted. I'm not a young twenty-something so it could never happen to me--Right?

Hmmmm now I better tweet this :-)
